Andy Lansing has been on the front lines of Levys explosive, strategic growth for more than 30 years. In 1991, Andy Lansing was promoted to executive vice president, then president and chief operating officer, in 1995. In that role, Mr. Maciariello managed the Compass Diversified business opportunities, and was responsible for the financial and strategic supervision of the subsidiaries of Compass Diversified.

The United Nations suspended Compass in October 2005 following allegations that it had engaged in contracting bid rigging. It was claimed Compass Groups subsidiary, ESS, may have received classified information inappropriately concerning a three-year contract for supplying food and water to United Nations peacekeepers in Liberia. In 2016, New Zealands Southern DHB (District Health Board) received multiple complaints regarding the quality of the food served in Dunedin Hospital, where the 15-year contract was controversially awarded to Compass Group in 2015.
In 2019, Chartwells higher education dining services, a subsidiary of Compass Group, terminated its higher education dining services contract with Cenikor, a substance abuse rehabilitation facility which had provided food service labor to the cafeterias of Louisiana State University. Compass Group plc provides dining services at locations including offices and factories, schools, universities, hospitals, large sports and cultural venues, coal mine camps, correctional facilities, and offshore oil platforms. The revival this year of the US economy, where Compass does two-thirds of its business, has transformed the businesss operations.
