CVS selects CIO to lead integration with Aetna
CVS Health has appointed a CIO to integrate the company's extensive technology infrastructure and data with IT systems used by health insurer Aetna, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Roshan Navagamuwa, who previously served as interim CIO, was elevated to CIO and executive vice president of the combined healthcare company.
In his role, he will lead an enterprise-technology team made up of IT leaders from both CVS and Aetna, acquired last year by the drugstore chain. Mr. Navagamuwa is charged with leading all areas of technology operations and innovation.
"We are bringing two world-class IT organizations together as part of this integration," Mr. Navagamuwa told the Journal. "While there are opportunities to integrate enterprise systems, the most exciting opportunities are what we can build as a result of the two entities coming together."
CVS expects to save $750 million in the next two years by combining operations and corporate expenses.
